sepenlike this
thrice`hi sepen.  I found this interresting while looking a little more at arch linux's ATI:
sepenmaybe Ill try to develop a crux-arm image to run on it12:56
sepenthrice`, hmm12:56
thrice`they call their version "8.11" and download from the ubuntu archive.  maybe that will work?12:56
thrice`just thought I'd pass it along :)12:57
sepenhmm but what version of xorg is used in arch?12:57
sepenhehe see the PKGBUILD file: cp 2.6.x/Makefile .12:59
sepenfrom where are patch applied in arch?13:00
thrice`not sure, as I don't use it OR ati :)13:01
thrice`doesn't look like that Pkgbuild applies any patches, though.  maybe ubuntu DID get a special driver-release?13:02
sepenwell the provided path will only be significative on SMP boxes13:02

mrmike503Hey, I finally got CRUX up, and appearantly the kernel was buggy for my model laptop. It's rather new, so I guess the kernel couldn't support it well. Thank you again for those who helped me on Friday. The only thing I'm having trouble solving is my graphics card. Do any of you know how to set up 3d acceleration and direct rendering?13:08
sepenwhats your card chipset?13:09
mrmike503It's a laptops ATI Raedon 3100.13:09
sepenso use xorg-xf86-video-ati and edit your xorg.conf13:10
sepenyou need the driver compiled in the kernel too13:10
sepen$ zgrep -i radeon /proc/config.gz13:11
mrmike503i got xorg-xf86-video-ati already...13:14
mrmike503but what should i add to the xorg.conf?13:14
tilmanmrmike503: first make sure you have that kernel config option that sepen mentioned13:15
sepenDRI obiously13:15
tilmanDRI defaults to yes in xorg.conf13:15
tilmanso it's unlikely to be an issue13:15
sepenohh and use: $ sudo vigr (to add yourself to the video group)13:16
sepennot sure if its really needed13:17
mrmike503there is no DRI in xorg.conf13:17
sepenLoad       "dri"13:19
sepenSection "DRI"13:19
sepenyou need to load the dri module, and uncomment the DRI section13:20
mrmike503wait wait... isn't section supposed to be first?13:21
sepenmrmike503, please read the file, then ask13:22
bdfyspaceninja thereis config13:31

bdfyspaceninja pkgadd linux -r /your_usbdrive13:37
spaceninjawhich model is the kernel designed for?13:37

bdfyvanilla kernel13:38
spaceninjawhich eee model do you have, 701, 900 901?13:39
bdfyspaceninja: 70113:40
spaceninjayou think the same kernel conf will work with the 900?13:40
bdfyheh .. http://forum.eeeuser.com13:41

mrmike503So I changed the xorg.conf file like you said for my ATI driver. I accidentally messed up some of the lines because they went down a line (using nano, gotta learn vi) and caused an error. You also mentioned changing the kernel and a few other things... could you perhaps reput that in the channel? I closed my gui on accident and lost it...14:47
mrmike503I fixed the xorg after messing it up.14:47
