Dapper_DanHi guys. I'm getting my tail whipped with 2,5. Running startx or xdm causes a freeze of keyboard and mouse that wasn't there in 2.2,, 2.3 or 2.4. I'm using Nvidia but the freeze is persistent with the nv driver as well as nvidia and even with vesa. Anyone else experiencing this?00:08
rehabdollcheck your Xorg.log00:20
rehabdollits a xorg thing:00:20
rehabdoll(II) The server relies on HAL to provide the list of input devices. If no devices become available, reconfigure HAL or disable AllowEmptyInput.00:20
Dapper_DanThanks for responding. I tried diabling AllowEmptyInput in xorg.conf but it had no effect. I figured it was xorg and not CRUX itself.00:30
Dapper_DanAlso hald and dbus are both running when trying to initiate X.00:32

rehabdollare you using evdev?00:35
Dapper_DanI have it installed. Anything I need to do other than installing it?00:35
rehabdollenable it in your kernel00:40
rehabdollafk, breakfast00:40
Dapper_DanHmmm. I'll give it a look see...00:42
Dapper_DanJust to save time, anyone able to tell me off hand where enabling evdev is in menuconfig?00:43

Dapper_DanNo change. recompiled kernel enabling 'Device Drivers'->'Input device support'->'Event interface' and still get freeze of mouse and keyboard when initiating X. :(01:17
Dapper_Dan2.4 was a piece of cake compared to this. It's in xorg but nothing I've tried helps.01:20

syslogdDapper_Dan: Have you tried setting the option "AllowEmptyInput" to "no" in xorg.conf?04:32
* tilman just successfully suspended (and resumed!) his laptop04:41
tilmancool :D04:41
syslogdHow many seconds did it take to resume?04:42
tilmanless than one i think04:42
RyoSover 9000?04:42
* tilman tries again :D04:42
tilmansyslogd: sorry, it was 2s04:43
syslogdWow, that's cool.04:43
tilmanthat's with suspend to ram, not ~to disk04:43
syslogdWhich tool did you use?04:44
tilmanpm-suspend, from pm-utils04:44
tilmani'll probably put that port in opt04:44
syslogdThat would be great.04:44
tilmansyslogd: if you're brave, you can just try echo mem > /sys/power/state04:44
tilmanpm-utils is jst some scripts that do stuff before and after going to sleep04:44
tilmanafaik :)04:45
syslogdAnd how do I awake the system then?04:45
tilmani do it by hitting the laptop's power button04:45
tilmanpressing random keys didn't work04:45
syslogdOk, I will try that.04:46
syslogdWow! It worked.04:46
syslogdThanks for the tip.04:46
syslogdVery impressive how silent it was for a while...04:47
tilmanjust writing to /sys/proc/state worked?04:47
syslogdOn Ubuntu it never worked.04:48
syslogdOk, I will try to measure how many watts it consumes while being in suspend mode.04:49
syslogd31W -> 6W. That are good results.04:49
syslogdUhm, what about the LAN connection. Does it stays alive?04:50
syslogdOr will it reconnect after resuming?04:50
tilmani should get a wattmeter too04:50
tilmanB[Byou can do that kind of stuff with pm-utils04:51
tilmani doubt the connection stays alive ;p04:51
tilmansince your NIC/wifi thing will be put to sleep as well04:51

teKis there any recommended way to install vbox on crux-2.5? I'm missing a hint in the README :)08:27
Rotwangim going to drop md5deep from contrib, someone against?08:32
Rotwangsepen || teK08:32
teKnot really08:37
sepenteK, no special way but be sure that you are using the right kernel dir for sources08:43
sepenvbox fails if you don't have /usr/src/linux pointing to your running kernel sources08:44
sepenbut you can use something like $ sudo env KDIR=/usr/src/linux-2.6.x.x prt-get depinst virtualbox --install-scripts08:45
sepenRotwang, +108:45
mike_ksepen: I don't have one. only /lib/modules/`uname -r`08:45
mike_kand it works08:46
sepenis listed in the vbox's makefile I suppose08:46
Rotwangis jaeger still updating his contrib ports?08:46
sepenmike_k, so /lib/modules/$(uname -r)/build -> /usr/src/linux08:46
mike_kI guess /usr/src/linux is useless nowadays08:46
Rotwangclamav is outdated08:46
jaegerRotwang: yes, as I get time08:46
jaegerI'm actually updating clamav right now :)08:47
Rotwangk ;]08:47
sepenmike_k, $ ls -la /lib/modules/
sepenlrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 23 Jun 19  2008 /lib/modules/ -> /usr/src/linux-
sepenI mean that, ;D08:47
mike_ksepen: the symlink can point anywhere else. /usr/src/linux looks like anachronism.08:48
Rotwangpitill0: ping08:49
sepenmike_k, yes, but I'm talking that vbox requires the running kernel, it reads KDIR=`uname -r` but in my case I built vbox inside a chroot env so I needed it to use KDIR=/another/point/for/sources, thats all!08:52
mike_kI see08:52
jaegerRotwang: 0.94.2 seems solid to me, just running some tests before I push it08:54
teKsepen: it complains about my gcc's version08:55
teKie 4.3.2 won't work08:55
sepenteK, ?09:01
sepenteK, did you install gcc34 before?09:02
jaegerRotwang: pushed09:02
sepenteK, $ pkginfo -i | grep gcc09:03
sepengcc 4.3.2-109:03
sepengcc34 3.4.6-209:03
teKah I see.09:03
teKno I didn't. There's no hint to do so09:03
Rotwangjaeger: ok, thx ;]09:04
*** f1y has quit IRC09:05
sepenI sent this to ML sometime ago, and seems that nobody replies it09:05
teKputting it into README would be more reasonable imho09:06
sepenteK, its listed as a dep09:06
teKwell, prt-get update doesn't honor Dependencies:, too bad09:07
sepenteK, you said 'any recommended way to install...' not to update ;D09:07
sepenteK, maybe you want something like prt-get depupdate foo09:08
sepenI asked here sometime ago about this feature09:08
teKanother thing to patch / commit / get through :-)09:09
Rotwangme thinks prt-get sysup should care about it09:09
Rotwangand option to set in config09:09
Rotwanglike update_with_deps on09:09
Rotwangsimilar to run scripts09:10
sepenwell I use to use prt-get deptree before update any port09:22

sirmacikI understand removed info or doc folder, but scripts...13:31
