jaegerwhat the hell is causing this? grrrr12:21
*** maxus has joined #crux12:24

jaegertilman: yeah, I've just got no idea what's causing it13:07
jaegerI've seen it on two different machines with completely different hardware. The only things in common are CRUX 2.5 and XFS13:08
tilmanis that the same issue that hit you in december, when you were building crux isos?13:08
jaegernot quite... that time it was reiserfs corruption... ended up with some unremovable files named things like ?????????.????? always question marks13:10
jaegerI switched back to XFS at the time and got around that13:10
jaegerI wonder if relatime could cause it13:11
jaegerhrmm, not using relatime there, so probably not :P13:11
tilmani doubt it, but i'm not really an FS expert ;)13:11
jaegerusing defaults13:11
jaegerAnother odd thing is that stage0 goes fine, it's stage1 where it breaks13:12
jaegerso weird13:24
jaegerone machine is an amd64 x2, the other is an intel core 2 duo. both are running 32-bit crux, though13:25
tilmanif you really care, you could probably build xfs with some debugging helpers or so(?)13:54
tilmanCONFIG_XFS_DEBUG for starters, maybe?13:54
tilmanjaeger: i assume you already checked dmesg for kernel errors?13:55
*** thiagoc has quit IRC13:55
treachmmh, maybe get some chickens too. ;)13:56
tilmanoh, right13:57
tilmantreach: btw, the alan cox quote is referenced in lwn's 2008 review13:57
jaegertilman: yeah, nothing there either13:57
jaegerI'll try the debugging when I get home13:57
treachtilman: I guess so, it's quite qoutable. :p13:57
treach*qouteable* ...13:58
tilmannice wording13:58
tilmanhe "agrrred" to [...]13:58
treachwhere? It says "agreed" here..13:58
tilmanwell yes. lag + laptop keyboard and all that13:59
tilmantreach: i enjoyed the quotes13:59
treachlol @ the second photo. :D14:00
treachlinus really has the devils eyes. :D14:00
tilmansecond as in third?14:00
treachtoo much scrolling, sorry14:01
tilmanit's really nice that they raised so much money though14:03

* treach wonders what's really "micro" in microsoft, after looking at the win7 footprint.14:53
jesse_rip microsoft 2009, long live macrosoft 2009 - * \o/14:54
treachI mean, ffs, vista is silly, but win7 is beyon redicolus.14:54
jaegerat least it's less of a hog than vista so far14:56
jaeger(from my short time messing with it)14:56
jaegerdoesn't thrash the disc 24/714:56
treachmmh, seems to use less ram, but I was refering to the needed amount of diskspace.14:56
treach(ie, stuff that invariably need service packs, updates, patches and what not)14:57
jaegerat least disks are getting cheaper :)14:57
treachsure, but 40GB+ for just the OS.. I have a hard time to find any adequate word for it.14:58
treachI thought vista was "insane", and after that it gets hard to get worse IMO.14:58
jesse_Here's a word: BLOAT.15:00
jesse_Who knew all that fancy shmancy GUI needed so damn much space...15:02
treachmmh, it sure adds up.. I have no idea how much space the latest incarnation of MS-Office takes, but if you're gonna put it, and windows 7 plus, let's say some "light" version of visual studio on your laptop.. be prepaired to bring your NAS in your backpack. X|15:03
