dapperdanGood morning all!08:51
kreedGood day. I have some question, not about crux. For my site, I should post time in db in GMT format or in a local?08:54
dapperdanWhen installing 2.7, and using the .config from my 2.5 install, the partitions on my SATA drive would not show up in /dev. I re-installed two more times using different file systems and still got the same problem.08:57
dapperdan Just to see, I "borrowed" the .config from a Ubuntu 10.04 box, compiled the kernel in CRUX and now my partitions show up in /dev. Can anyone venture a guess what changed from 2.5 to 2.7 that might be the culprit?08:58
dapperdanSeems it must be something I did not build into the kernel when using my old .config from 2.5 which works perfectly in that install.08:58
dapperdan RAID bus controller: Intel Corporation 82801 SATA RAID Controller (rev 02)08:59
pt_wm8505dapperdan: diff the configs to try to find the differences between them09:04
aubicdapperdan: did you do a 'make oldconfig'?09:06
dapperdanI still have the .config from 2.5 which is on the same box as the 2.7 install.09:10
thrice`actually, the version of crux doesn't matter much, compared to the kernel versions09:10
thrice`sounds like the 2.5 -> 2.7 bump was a bit much09:10
dapperdanI ran into problems installing 2.6 as well but didn't have the time to sort through it back then so have used 2.5 until now. :)09:11
thrice`without any updates? :>09:11
dapperdanI've been running 2.6.35 kernel in 2.5. Updating the install periodically.09:12
dapperdanwith 2.6.35 kernel in 2.5, partitions show up in /dev. Same ,config used in 2.7 and no partitions in /dev. Interestingly enough, the partitions on my external drive showed right up when firing it up but not the partitions from internal hard drive.09:17
dapperdanGuess I'll use the present bloated Ubuntu configured kernel that works and try a process of elimination...09:24
dapperdanThanks guys.09:25
