ThePub"dad, I just don't like your BBQ in comparison to a new computer."08:39
ThePubI know my parents would understand.08:39

frinnstperfect evening?08:40
jaegerheh08:40
jaegerThePub: did you figure out the printing issue?08:41
ThePubnot really.  it accepts jobs, "prints" them according to CUPS, but the printer never actually recieves anything.  I can netcat text files to the printer, just fine.  So I'm assuming the translation from deb package to crux/cups is my problem.  Have to read up more on cups.08:43
jaegerah08:43
ThePubcrux must differ in some large way from arch in this regard :)08:45

tilmanrmull: yeah16:08
rmullI'm coming from Gentoo and I really like the USE flags, which let me tweak what dependencies I build in. To do something similar in Crux, do I make my own ports packages with a modified ./configure line, or is there a better way?16:08
tilmanthere's no better way16:10
rmullOkay, sounds fine, thanks16:11
*** y3llow_ has joined #crux16:11
rmullJust need to make sure my ports stay up to date with the ones they're derived from, I suppose16:12

Rotwangyou'll get bored16:14
frinnsti find there is very little need to modify ports to change deps16:14
Rotwangwith maintaining all these just to pass your configure flags16:14
frinnstmaybe one or two ports16:14
Rotwangbesides until you really need some functionality that is not included in a port it doesn't make sense to maintain own versions16:15
Rotwangimo16:15
Rotwangand when you need certain functionality you can send patch to maintainer or file a bug16:16
rmullI'll have to see16:17
rmullThanks for the tips.16:17
