orly_owlAre there any live CDs that work on x86 and PowerPC?06:19
pitilloorly_owl: there isn't a live cd (officially) for any of both arches (not sure about ppc but I think there isn't neither)06:22
orly_owlthere is finnix06:23
orly_owlbut each arch is on a seperate iso06:23
orly_owli guess i need to look into making a custom cd06:23
pitilloI don't know about finnix but it seems to be debian based...06:27

drounseis crux vastly different than arch?15:27
frinnstnever used arch15:49
frinnstbut crux is source based15:49
frinnstthe only binaries we ship is the packages on the install media15:49
drounsefrinnst, ah, my computer sucks, i cant really compile on here:(15:49
frinnstinit scripts are basic and what you do with the rest is up to you :)15:50
frinnsthow "sucky"?15:50
drounsefrinnst, well im on celeron d15:50
frinnstdepending on what you want to run and how much free time you have it might be doable15:51
drounsefrinnst, well i used freebsd on here and it took a week and a half for x and gnome215:51
frinnstbut yeah, spending a few hours compiling firefox isnt that much fun15:51
frinnstwell good news! we dont ship gnome :D15:51
frinnstthere is a gnome repo though but most of use just use window managers and no real desktop suite15:52
frinnstI dont think the gnome repo is maintained much these days either15:52
drounsefrinnst, yea, i use arch now and compiled fluxbox on it, it only took 45 minutes i think but x took a little while so i used a binary15:53
drounsefrinnst, maybe on a better computer ill try crux15:53
frinnstwhaa? celeron d is what, ~2ghz ?15:53
frinnstshould only take a minute or two compiling fluxbox unless you also counted dependencies like xorg15:54
drounsei compiled xorg-utils and xorg-server-utils along with fluxbox and one more thing15:55
drounsei also had to download the source to so that took time, but not a whole lot, i just new that it took about 45 minute15:56
