v33seems like bumblebee is struggling to find libturbojpeg04:41
diverseMy point is, for something like storage, cloud is fine. BUT, when it comes to DRM and restriction like with steam, its not as good.04:42
prologicI think it's all a rather touchy subject tbh04:43
prologicI don't like restrictions placed on what I can and can't do either04:43
prologicor what I can and can't do with the media I purchase04:43
prologicbut then again, I always purchase/rent04:43
prologicI never pirate my stuff04:43
v33richard stallman anyone?04:44
diversewhat does pirating have to do with it?04:45
prologicisn't that the whole point of DRM?04:45
prologicto try and thwart pritating?04:45
prologiceven though it doesn't in relity04:46
prologicisn't DRM all about protecting your IP and assetts04:46
prologicand ensuring your profits remain in tact?04:46
*** v33 has quit IRC04:55
diverseNo, DRM could be something like what Microsoft is doing with their next gen console the "xbox one" is when you buy a new game, the said game is can only be used to your console. You cannot use other people's used games, because the new games comes with a license that registers to your xbox and cannot be used else where. Plus you are required to at least login with your xbox account once per day, in order to be04:57
diverseable to continue using the console. Someone without an internet connection will be blocked from using their console after 24 hours of use and will not work into you login. Its also regional-lock and they are allowed to spy on you. Thats DRM for you!04:57
diverseAs for piracy, it happens anyway with or without DRM.04:59

v33any window/desktop environment recommendations? going to reinstall crux05:03
Romstermy borther has a xbox 360 he just bought a gaming laptop05:04
Romsterfor the first time.05:04
diverseRomster: well you are going to have to tell your brother all about that and tell him that it will also cost $100 USD more than the ps4.05:06
diversealso the ps4 has none of that drm crap that xbox one has. The only exception is that they are going to start charging user for the online gaming, but thats pretty much it. The ps4 is also superiour in specs.05:12
*** v33 has quit IRC05:14
diversedammit v33, quit popping in and out, in and out.05:15
prologicv33: I recommend xfce405:53
prologicand if you used an irc bouner05:53
prologicyou'd see this :)05:53
prologicotherwise check the logs :)05:53
prologicre DRM05:53
prologicdidn't I just say all that :)05:53
prologiconly shorter :)05:53
prologicDRM is a broad topic05:53
prologicbut basically it covers ways of handling Digital Rights05:54
prologicand often how to restrict and control said digital assets05:54
prologicso yes05:54
prologicyou poor fools that own said Xbox(s)05:54
prologicI feel of ryou05:54
diverseyou mostly talked about how it prevents priracy (which can happen anyway), I mostly talked about how it control and restricts users.05:56
prologicyeah well06:03
prologicit's all the same thing really06:03
diverseyes, its two different sides of the same coin06:06
diversebut priracy is not the whole point of DRM, since DRM can be used in malicious ways. In which case, the way Microsoft is using it, it will end shooting their assests in the foot. :)06:12
diversewhere is v33 so I can snipe him?06:18
frinnstdear god the text07:43
frinnstprologic: you need to use libglamor for ati southern island chips07:45

frinnstI suggest you build xorg-xf86-video-ati from git too08:07
frinnstsouthern island are very different from previous chips08:08
frinnstsince it uses the 3d engine for 2d08:08

niklasweor have I miss something..08:36
Romsterprologic, if this stuff turns out to be stable and doesn't mess anything else up, i could modify mesa3d configure options to help but i can't go to a git version.09:34
frinnstRomster: yeah it is. iirc i still have my modified mesa3d port09:47
