diversethat killed the conversation...04:15
diverseprologic: how is the ati 3D thing going?04:17
prologichaven't succeeded yet04:18
prologicI tried again the proprietary stuff last night04:18
prologicwith no success04:18
prologicI get unknown kernel symbol errors04:18
prologiceven though the fglrx driver is patched approparietely04:18
prologicso go figure04:18
prologictonight I'll try what frinnst  said04:19
prologicand use the xorg-vidoe-ati driver04:19
prologicwith glamour and mesa3d head versions04:19
diverseIt seems to be your only route here.04:20
prologicpossibly yes04:22
prologicthe proprietary catalyst drivers just completely suck ass04:22
prologicso many patches to apply04:22
prologicand it's hard to tell what you need to do04:22
prologicI have the sneaking suspicion they only support a limited set of kernel versions04:22
prologicprobably whatever Debian/Ubuntu stock installs provide04:22

diverseI remember having issues with catalyst in the past and it was also very buggy. The xorg ati on the other hand was not as graphically good, but pretty stable, so there used to be a trade off. Now it seems you can have best of both worlds with the xorg ati driver.04:24
