pitillohey Romster, good morning here. If you have some time, take a look to http://paste.lisp.org/display/146675 (mod_wsgi update)08:05

Romsterso going form 4.4.10 to 3.3 okay :P08:21
Romsterman i hate github archives.08:21
Romster--content-disposition on wget is experimental sigh08:26
Romsterstill i have an idea.08:27
frinnst--content-disposition ?08:28
Romsteryeah look at the header of a github source file.08:29
frinnstah, thought it was a configure time option08:29
Romsternah run time08:31
Romsterwell that idea wont work.08:31
RomsterPKGMK_WGET_OPTS+=" --content-disposition" in the Pkgfile :P08:32
frinnstouch, ugly :)08:32
Romsteryeah but wondered if it would work or break or what.08:32
frinnstbut yeah, useful for testing i guess08:32
Romsterin a docker container.08:33
Romsterthat's odd that PKGMK_WGET_OPTS is not even defined at the bottom of pkgmk08:34
frinnstwhy? its just if you want to add extra mojo08:35
frinnstsame with all options pretty much08:35
Romsterthought they would be all foo=""08:35
Romsterbefore source foo08:36
Romsterno biggie08:36
Romsterdid you test the curl patche that alan made?08:36
Romster-O, --remote-name, -L, --location and -J, --remote-header-name08:37
Romsterfor curl to do this.08:37
Romsterbut it may break other tools that read source=08:37
frinnstyeah i've run curl for a while08:38
frinnstbut i did hit some wierdness so i've reverted to wget for now08:38
Romsterdidn't it have a fit on ftp or something?08:38
Romsteri was running curl ages ago and it used to hang on some things.08:38
frinnstdont remember what it was, but it never timed out a couple of times08:38
Romsteryeah i had that a lot08:38
frinnstiirc i updated the flyspray entry with some notes08:38
Romsterin my crazy days i did this https://github.com/therealromster/pkgutils-hvl/blob/master/pkgmk.in#L13108:40
Romsterwell before alan did his patch08:40
Romsteras far as i can recall adding a minimum speed limit to keep else disconnect solved it.08:41
Romsterbut i always had issues with ftp08:41
Romsterso i added some logic for that and then i solved the downloading html 404 page as foo.tar.gz archive issue then giving a md5sum error.08:42
Romsterit checked if a archive file extension had text/html08:42
Romster--max-redirs 10 i threw in case of recursive looping.08:43
Romster--remote-header-name of course.08:43
Romsterthink i'll look at alans patch and then possibly tweak it with my past experience.08:45
Romsterhmm actually i like the directory idea...09:11
Romsterinstead of file renaming.09:12

z3braRomster, I wrote a simple package manager in the same flavor as crux in my crazy days ;)11:49
z3brahttp://git.z3bra.org/cgit.cgi/pmkit/tree/pmkit11:49
z3brahttp://raw.z3bra.org/vid/linux/pmkit.webm11:49
z3bra^ pmkit in action11:49
z3brait uses cpio + bzip2 to create the packages, and write the list of files contained in the archive in a "package db"11:50
z3bra(cpio -t > /var/lib/pmkit/$name)11:51
FaymWhy isn't cpio dead yet :/11:53
z3brawhat's the problem with it?11:53
z3braI like it so far11:53
z3bra(also, it's used in rpm, so I doubt it's gonna die one day)11:53
FaymCan't remember the specifics, IIRC though the tool is dumber than tar, and it's largely unused by anyone who isn't making rpms.11:54
z3braI use it for my backups11:55
FaymIt's long since been unrequired for boot images.11:55
z3brabut yeah, it's too bad there is not more love for it11:55

lmarieHi all!  On Sunday I mentioned exiftool wouldn't install due to footprint.  Since it is a contrib port package I let the maintainer of it know.  He suggested to edit the footprint to match perl 5.18 and it installed.17:35

frinnstjust saw the release announcement and since it removed a patch i though i'd add it20:02
frinnstwould be interesting to survey the % of the ddx drivers in use20:02
koriI think having some sort of effort to "modernize" CRUX (as in, to drop support for old things that no one really uses, therefore reducing work) could be cool20:03
korialso, in regards to that old pkgconf debate20:03

dlc[newb[e talking] I just learned of prt-get readme in  an article about installing XFCE.  I am amazed it is not mentioned in the Handbook.  I'd add it myself but getting registered on the Wiki seems to be a dark subject.  Can somebody add a line about its usefulness for me?20:41
onoderadlc: prt-get is in the handbook dlc20:46
onoderahttps://crux.nu/Main/Handbook3-1#ntoc2020:47
dlcIt doesn't mention readme anywhere in the Handbook.  Is there a good reason not to?20:48
onoderaoh you mean the command prt-get readme20:50
onoderaI'm not sure20:50
dlcYes the command.  It's a really useful tool for newbies, like suggesting 'prt-get readme xorg-server', for instance.20:53
