jaegerargh... having problems with 5.1 channel mapping over HDMI output again. I thought this shit was fixed YEARS ago03:57
xeirrrjaeger: which software?04:16
brian|lfsanyone have issues compiling webkit05:33
jaegerxeirrr: it was alsa and kodi in this case, got it sorted by rebuilding everything alsa-related and kodi05:50
jaegerbrian|lfs: I don't use it05:50
Worksterwebkit missing in qt4 perhaps or qt4-3205:51
Workstershit just worked in crux 3.105:51
Worksteri'll need to look into this again05:51
*** tilman_ has joined #crux05:51
Worksteralso if your not using pulseaudio you can use the skype/README to get away without pulseaudio05:51
brian|lfsthought skype required pulseaudio this day and age05:52
brian|lfswould that get around the webkit issue05:53
brian|lfsnot using pulseaudio?05:53
*** tilman has quit IRC05:55
*** j_v has joined #crux05:56
Worksternope that's a seperate issue05:59
Worksternot really a issue with the sound side of it, as the README for skype has a solution to send it to alsa05:59
brian|lfsoh ok just double checking05:59
Worksterthis webkit thing for qt4-32? though... not sure where that broke. if it's a dep or gcc06:00
brian|lfsskype isn't a big deal at this point testing crux on a test machien to see if I want to use it on my main machine06:00
brian|lfsseems like to buggy at this point so far06:00
Worksterand yes i went though hell with dependences for wine and skype06:00
brian|lfsI got xFCE installed06:01
brian|lfsthe 3.1 repo worked06:01
Worksterso much so jaeger had to help me with a few problems i was stuck on.06:01
brian|lfsthere was one dep missing in something but I was able to install the dep and continue on06:01
Worksterfile a bug report to sepen.06:01
brian|lfsso how did you fix webkit its not in qt4 righht now06:01
brian|lfsor get skype working rather06:02
brian|lfscompiling wine right now06:08
*** j_v has quit IRC06:10
brian|lfsso is there a wine-32 I need to install also for 32 bit?06:11
Worksteri never had to do a thing in crux 3.1, this issue just happened in crux 3.2, all i did was clean up missing files in footprints.06:12
Worksteri have no clue as to why that module of qt is not being compiled/installed06:13
Worksterhmm i need to test if it's dash that's breaking it.06:13
brian|lfsso I take it your a CRUX dev?06:14
Worksteryou should only have ignore new set06:14
brian|lfsthat is probably what I have set06:14
Worksteri guess i am i am in opt contrib compat-32 and xorg06:14
brian|lfsit seems like its taking forever for xorg to be replaced by something06:16
Worksterit wont ever be, this other X server that i can't think of the darn name is meant to simplify the X11 protocol06:17
Worksterbut allow X11 to run alongside for compatibility06:17
Worksterso much mind numbing with customers... and i used to know this off the top of my head...06:18
Worksteryes wayland06:18
brian|lfsmaybe I'm looking in the wrong place but it looks like we only have the 352 and 355 nvidia drivers06:18
brian|lfswhat about for older cards lol06:18
Worksteri was gonna test wayland then it got dependency hell after dependency and i just gave up on that... that was nearly a year ago now.06:19
Worksterthey get left in the dust06:19
Worksteri guess06:19
Worksteri upgraded to a gtx750 to fix my issue.06:20
brian|lfsI have a 285 gtx on my test machine06:20
brian|lfsusing nouveau for the moement06:20
Worksterbecause new xorg and old nvidia don't talk so well.06:20
Worksterif that would work with steam in wine and steam in linux for 3d acceleration i'd be using nouveau06:21
brian|lfswine worked fine no footprint issues06:21
brian|lfswhy not use the linux steam\06:21
Worksterit should i look after it06:21
Worksteri have some games that are windows only that work though wine ok.06:22
Worksterin my steam account06:22
brian|lfstrue that06:22
Worksteri'd love a linux port of them but... i can't see that happening06:22
brian|lfsI feel like I burnt a hole in my wallet06:22
brian|lfsgot a new raid card coming06:22
Workstereh i just use software raid06:23
brian|lfsnot sure if the one I have is dieing or whats going on06:23
brian|lfsbut it pukes ever once in a while when I reboot06:23
Workstercables card or psu06:23
brian|lfsits a lsi megaraid card was made in 2007 lol06:23
brian|lfsso ended up getting another card that still uses megaraid06:23
brian|lfsthe new card can do 12GB transfer06:24
brian|lfsthe old one probably only 3GB seeing its copyright 200706:24
Worksteri'm off heading home06:26

Romster19:01 here and 16.1C08:02

frinnst8.5C here08:03
Romsterthat's too cold08:03
frinnst-2C yesterday08:03
Romsterand even worse08:03
Romsterhad snow too?08:04
frinnst~8 is really hot for december08:04
frinnstno, not this far south08:04
Romsteryour summer is ~8C on average08:04
frinnsthaha screw you08:04
*** gb00s has joined #crux08:05
Romsterman, i dunno our average but heck our peak on the coast can be as high as 42C for a single day and like 37C for a few days in a row and the rest like 34C08:05
Romsterbe lucky to get to -3C in winter08:05
Romsterinland maybe a but colder.08:06
xeirrrAustralia has oceans08:12
frinnst~40C is just pointless08:15
Romsteryeah we have 7 different ocean regions08:15
frinnsti think i'd die in about 10 seconds08:15
Romsterpretty sure Eskimos withstand that temp08:16
Romsterbut they can have that.08:16
frinnstwhere I live (southern sweden) we get maybe -10C on average08:16
frinnstand +25C during summer08:16
Romsterwell your summers would be nice.08:16
Romsterbe like our spring day08:17
frinnstnah, too hot +15C would be ideal :)08:17
Romsterdo people walk around in short and a shirt in 15C ?08:17
frinnstnot shorts maybe, but just tshirts sure08:17
Romsterthse sorts of temps we would get in tasmania08:18
Romsterhas to get to 20C + before i even consider removing my shirt.08:18
Romstererr jumper i meant.08:18
frinnstyou do adapt pretty quick though. first freezing temps this season felt cold as hell.. a week later it feels normal08:18
Romsteryeah, everyone adapts to the area. the problem here is it never stays the one temp long enough to climatise to it08:19
Romsterwhat the heck now so libvpx gets bumped and now ffmpeg wont build... -_-08:20
frinnstthere is an update available08:21
frinnstfor ffmpeg08:21
Romsteryeah alan emailed me08:23
Romsterand a patch is there to fix it even though libvpx isn't bumped in contrib yet08:24
Romster2.8.2 probably has that patch applied08:24
Romsteri work my ass off at work come home and more things get broken. honestly 3.2 has so many broken packages currently08:28
Romsterand libvpx breaking comparability in a 1.3.0 to 1.5.0 is wrong. that should of been a 2.x.x release. x.y.z. y releases are meant to be new features added only.08:29
Romsteror major code cleanups but same function behavior.08:30
frinnstI run 2.8.2 at home, albeit a very stripped down version :)08:30
frinnstI use it instead of gstreamer with the latest firefox beta08:31
frinnstand its autodetected in firefox \o/08:31
Romsteri still got 1 box running crux 2.7, because i can't be arsed to update that yet.08:31
Romsterdoes firefox now use ffmpeg?08:32
Romsterand not gstreamer?08:32
frinnstyes, thats what i meant08:32
Romsterfirefox confuses me08:32
frinnstffmpeg 2.8.208:32
Romstersince when?08:32
frinnstlatest beta08:32
frinnstyou can still use gstreamer08:32
frinnstbut ffmpeg > gstreamer08:33
Romsterthis whole codec decoding frameworks a complete mess.08:33
frinnstsilly long link of libraries08:33
Romsterand i now need to also fix gst-plugins-bad-compat#0.10.23-3.pkg.tar.xz because of vpx08:33
Romsterwonder if i can dro ffmpeg-compat and no one would miss it.08:34
Romsterffmpeg 2.8.3 is out08:35
