brian|lfsstrange to say the least01:48
brian|lfshey jaeger when you boot with vga passthrough enabled do your CD rom drives show up01:48
novak_I'm getting a weird problem.  I upgraded my motherboard, which apparently has the known bug of needing the IOMMU enabled in the BIOS.  Crux (and other linuxes) boot fine with the IOMMU disabled, but lack support for USB, ethernet, etc.  If you enable IOMMU in the BIOS, other linuxes are fine (and have peripherals) but my crux install throws quite fit, spits out a huge pile of page fault errors, and claims it can't find the UUID for my /home. 01:52
brian|lfsthats more weird that the issues I was haivng01:58
brian|lfsI ended up downlaoding the linux-vfio form the archlinux aur and patching my kernel with the patchs that it didnt' already have01:58
brian|lfsthat sounds like you may need ACS overirde02:00
brian|lfshard to say02:00
novak_I could give it a shot02:01
brian|lfsyour config files would be good to see02:02
novak_yeah I can get to them if I boot into another OS... anything in particular you'd look for?02:04
brian|lfskernel conf and probably what your passign to qemu02:05
novak_I can get that... I've got 3.12 right now02:07
brian|lfswhat version of CRUX?02:07
brian|lfsno wonder your having issues old kernel02:08
brian|lfsyou need the latest kernel to make sure that vfio and iommu will work02:08
novak_hm, ok02:08
brian|lfsI would compile kernel 4.402:08
brian|lfsand apply the patches02:08
novak_All right, I was kinda planning on going for a new kernel when I switch to 3.202:09
brian|lfsmaybe you should switch now02:10
brian|lfsis there stuff thats broekn you use that don't work on 3.202:10
novak_No, I've just moved three times and switched jobs in the last 3 months, I'm finally getting around to re-setting up my machine02:11
brian|lfsoh ok02:11
novak_I was planning to switch now02:11
brian|lfsmight be better to switch sooner then latter02:12
novak_Yeah, thanks for the help.  I'm not sure it just a matter of kernel age though because 3.2 booted without any trouble02:13
brian|lfsI"m about to throw this thing across the room my atomizer02:14
brian|lfsyou put it on as tight as it will go thtne screw it on the mod and it comes apart02:15
brian|lfswhat a piece of junk02:15

novak_So my computer now boots with crux.  I'm still getting a lot of errors, though.  I think it might be worthwhile to upgrade the BIOS because apparently I have a four year old version.05:07
novak_I upgraded to 3.2 finally.05:08
brian|lfs`hey sorry novak_ was taking a nap paried to long last night with a friend05:18
novak_nah I haven't said much.  I think I need to figure out what these stupid errors are.  Or there might be a way around it thith iommu=soft.05:22
novak_Besides, never enough partying05:22
brian|lfsso what errors you getting now05:23
brian|lfsis your home sitll having issues05:23
novak_No, the home is fine, it is still getting page faults though.  I may update the kernel as you suggested since I just installed the 4.1.13 that was included.05:24
novak_But first I am going to update the bios since the current one is 3 years old05:25
brian|lfspade faults hmm05:25
novak_It's clearly related to the iommu, probably some invalid mapping.05:25
brian|lfssoudns familar I had page faults on soemthigna nd resovled it pretty quick05:25
brian|lfsbut dont recall what it was05:26
brian|lfsoh ya I remember what it was it actually told what option I needed to enable to fix it05:26
brian|lfsit has to do with have multiple sound devices05:26
novak_hm, nah, this is a bit different I think05:26
novak_I think it is USB3 but honestly haven't really dug into it yet05:27
brian|lfsoh had that issue also05:28
brian|lfsmy bord doesn't seem to have usb 1 or 2 support05:28
brian|lfsand I onkly had 1 enabled in my kernel05:29
novak_I had this one old board where the southbridge was dying that I got a ton of error messages but USB still worked05:29
novak_but if you ran windows it rebooted every 17 minutes with the logs full05:29
novak_and then05:35
novak_xhci_hcd: can't setup05:35
novak_I'll have to check on usb3 support05:35
brian|lfsI always had issues with AMD05:41
novak_I really haven't had many... but I pretty much avoid intel on principal anyhow05:44
*** tilman_ has joined #crux05:51

novak_ok fun, there are actually two sets of errors.  One is USB3, and the other I don't yet know.  A single page fault and then a couple of "ata8: COMRESET failed (errno=-16)"05:56
*** sudobaal has joined #crux06:15
novak_I think I do have a bad drive or cable in there06:16
novak_that's what that error seems likely to be06:16
novak_If I can get it down to just USB3 I can probably deal with that06:18

novak_hm, well, the good news is that I found the drive that had dropped out of my array but the bad news is that I still have that error.06:57
novak_it's rebuilding now so I probably won't fix it tonight.06:59
brian|lfsdo you use mdadm.conf07:07
brian|lfskernel can find it on its own but its safer just making an mdadm.conf07:08
novak_yeah, I guess a cable went bad07:16
novak_I replaced it and now it's rebuilding07:16

*** blueness has joined #crux16:57
pedjabrian|lfs: it's the pre-release version of libreoffice.16:59
pedjasomeone mentioned here few days ago that it works with current harfbuzz, so I modified the port and installed it.17:01
pedjaNo problems so far.17:01
pedjaBeing RC3, it should be released soon.17:02
pedjaI wonder what takes longer, building FreeBSD from source or LibreOffice :)17:05
brian|lfsprobably freebsd17:38

dlcusasysup of 3.2.php is failing in configure--(openssl support in libcurl... no--cgnutls support in libcurl... no--curl_easy_perform in -lcurl... no)--something is wrong). Are there any missing new dependencies?18:30
john_cephalopodadlcusa: Might be due to the SSL update.18:33

dlcusaThanks, workster, I'll look into using that in the future.23:47
dlcusaI experienced a breakage in some PHP scripts migrating to CRUX 3.2.  The fix was to split a literal 'META' into 'ME' . 'TA'.  Odd.23:49
Workstershould run that after every sysup really23:50
