cruxbot[opt.git/3.3]: xterm: update to 33212:50
john_cephalopodaLol, firefox and chromium with their puny version numbers. xterm has 332 :D12:55
joacimthey'll respond by moving the decimal point to the right one or two times.12:59
john_cephalopodaA perfect tactic. Firefox can learn something from the xterm devs.13:01

BitPuffinbah sorry I already asked this many months ago but I forgot the answer now. Gonna write it down in a document this time. If I'm skipping a crux version in the upgrade process (say 3.1 -> 3.3) what commands do I need to run to ensure that everything is gucci. So that I rebuild things and so on15:29
jaegerYou should probably at least 1) take a look at the setup-helper source for the intermediate version and see what it adds or removes and 2) make sure to install any missing dependencies15:30
jaegerhttps://crux.nu/gitweb/?p=system/iso.git;a=blob;f=iso/bin/setup-helper;h=0f71c287ae8655b4381c99130da70700275bb1cb;hb=6ea5c28a2855e756a74df8784c4e1d6dc3637a34 <-- 3.2 setup-helper for example, look at lines 97+15:31
BitPuffinso I install those before the upgrade?15:32
BitPuffinor after15:32
BitPuffinprobably before I guess15:32
jaegersince the installer is a binary upgrade you can probably do either but before seems safer15:32
BitPuffinyea and I can probably pkg_add them from the actual iso or smth15:33

BitPuffinbut yeah I remember there was some command where you could verify packages that took a long time15:33
BitPuffinlike checking that the dynamic link dependencies or whatever was met15:34
jaegerMaybe that was revdep, which checks for linking issues15:34
BitPuffinI don't remember exactly what it did15:34
jaegerit's much faster now than it used to be15:34
BitPuffinyeah revdep sounds about right15:34
BitPuffinSo. I install the intermediate packages, and then do the upgrade15:35
BitPuffinAnd then run revdep15:35
BitPuffinfix whatever issues there may be15:35
BitPuffinand then I'm probably ok?15:35
jaegerany reason you can't do the 3.2 upgrade first?15:35
BitPuffinprobably not15:35
BitPuffinjust save time I suppose15:35
jaegerEither way should work, just curious15:36
BitPuffinbut I guess if the chances of success are significantly reduced I'd rather spend some extra time doing the upgrades step by step15:36
jaegerIf you're comfortable diagnosing missing dependencies and the like, I don't think it would be significant15:37
BitPuffinso so, plus my crux skills are hella rusty15:39
jaegerfair enough15:39
